Château de La Rouardaye

5 minutes from our house is a Château in the small hamlet of Chambots, near Bains-sur-Oust.

A former Lord of Rouardaye was the judge who heard the case of Gilles de Rais, former comrade of Joan of Arc during the Hundred Years War. The central part of the castle was restored in the seventeenth century, and Denis Fabroni Chambots purchased it in 1678 for the sum of 6000 pounds. The château, was sold in 1822 to Francis QUELO Pioger's family and was extended in the early nineteenth century.
